On July 9, 2012 at approximately 5:29PM,
several officers responded to a home in south Amherst for the report of a
burglary. Officers quickly located a suspect in the area and he was identified
as John Kydd. Kydd was observed by a witness to have entered the home. Kydd was
also found to be in possession of heroin and to have an outstanding warrant for
his arrest that had been issued by the Holyoke District Court.

Kydd was placed under arrest. He was held at
the Hampshire County House of Corrections in lieu of $1500 cash bail. He is
expected to be arraigned at the Eastern Hampshire District Court this morning.
This investigation is ongoing.
