On January 25th, 2012 Lieutenant Jerry Millar, Officer Carlos Gutierrez, Officer Nicholas Chandler, Officer Joshua Harris and Officer Scott Soverino were issued a letter of Merit. Given by their peers, these officers were recognized for their actions and professionalism in the apprehension of a robbery suspect on December 25, 2011. All of the officers demonstrated outstanding teamwork while taking into custody the suspect, who the awoken homeowners discovered stealing their Christmas gifts. Their subsequent investigation showed that the suspect had broken into a total of five homes that morning. Well done to these fine Amherst Police Officers.
