On Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Officers from the Amherst Police Department arrested a 29-year-old Pennsylvania man as a Fugitive From Justice after identifying him during a motor vehicle stop earlier that same morning.
Arrested was Louis A. Betances, of 712 West Linden St., Allentown, PA. Mr. Betances was arrested on Fairfield Street, in Amherst, without incident after Amherst Detective David Foster facilitated his surrender.
Mr. Betances is wanted on a felony arrest warrant out of Lower Saucon, Pennsylvania, on the following criminal offenses:
1. Attempted Criminal Homicide
2. Two Counts of Aggravated Assault
On July 27, 2010, Mr. Betances was transported to the Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown, MA, where he was arraigned on the fugitive charge.
